Features Description Juncus alpinus-alpinus is an annual or perennial, aquatic plant growing from 40 to 100cm, with oblong, lanceolate, pointed, green leaves and green, hermaphrodite flowers. The flowering and the harvesting take place from June to July. It is a member of the hydrophilus rhizophytes, as it is rooted in the bottom of aqueous areas, while the shoots grow above the water surface.
Method Administration The plant is administered in the form of herbal tea (2 spoons of dried leaves and root in 1L of boiled water for 5-10min, 3 times a day).Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The whole plant has antiinflammatory, diuretic, antipyretic, emollient and sedative properties. It is recommended in the form of herbal tea for the treatment of chronic constipation, sore throat, jaundice, edema and urinary tract infections. The root has astringent properties and it is recommended in the form of herbal tea against urinary bleeding and chronic dysentery.
