Features Description |
Geranium robertianum is a small, annual or biennial plant growing from 15 to 40cm. The leaves are triangular and flowers are violet, pink or white, with five petals. It blossoms from April to June and the harvesting takes place from May to August. |
Method Administration |
The plant is administered in the form of herbal tea (2-3 times daily) as antidiarrheal. It is reccomended as mouthwash for its local effect in the oral cavity and as poultice to heal wounds (external use).Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions. |
Pharmacological Info |
Geranium robertianum is not widely used today. However, it is administered in the form of poultice for its healing properties against bleeding or during menstruation. It is also reccomended to be consumed orally for the treatment of diarrhea particularly in children and the elderly. Based on its astringent properties a mouthwash may be effective against gingivitis and periodontitis. Gargling soothes sore throats. |
