Features Description Polygala vulgaris is an evergreen, herbaceous biennial plant growing from 10 up to 12cm, with oval, oblong leaves and small, bell-shaped, blue or pink flowers in blossomed bunches. It blossoms in Spring and the harvesting takes place from May to July.
Method Administration The plant is administered as antitussive and expectorant in the form of infusion or herbal tea (from dried root) and in the form of syrup as a tonic and dietary supplement.Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The whole plant has expectorant, emollient, sudorific, antitussive, digestive and galaktagogo properties. It is recommended as a gastric tonic and for the treatment of acute and chronic bronchitis, of the dry and productive cough, the gastric ulcers and mental confusion.
