Features Description Rumex acetosa is a perennial plant growing from 10 to 30cm, with needle-like leaves and small, red flowers. The flowering and the harvesting take place from May to June.
Method Administration The plant is administered in the form of herbal tea (3 times a day, before eating) and in the form of ointment for external use.Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The whole plant has anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, anthelminthic, astringent, antipyretic, laxative, diuretic and anti-allergic properties. Also, plant's infusion has a tonic action, which is attributed to its high vitamin content and it is administered for the treatment of kidney stones, gallstones, jaundice and pruritus (itching). Finally, it has hematopoietic properties and it is recommended against haemoptysis (per os administration), as well for regulating the fuction of the endocrine glands.
