Features Description Lonicera caprifolium is an evergreen, climbing shrub growing from 1,50 to 2m, with oval, plush, opposite leaves and yellow-green, white or pink flowers in inflorescences. The flowering and the harvesting of the flowers take place from June to August, while the harvesting of the leaves takes place all year round.
Method Administration The plant is administered as sedative and expectorant in the form of herbal tea (20-40g of dried herb in two cups of boiled water, 3 times a day), anticoughing syrup and antidiarrheal tincture.Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The whole plant has diuretic, antispasmodic, emetic, antiasthmatic, laxative and antidiarrheal properties. It is administered as expectorant, soothing and healing against fever, influenza, headache, productive cough and ulcers, as well for the treatment of dysentery. The european species, which contain salicylic acid, have anti-inflammatory action against bacteria and influenza virus.
