Features Description Fragaria vesca is a perennial, herbaceous plant growing from 5 to 15cm, with shiny, wavy, green leaves and small, white flowers. The fruits are small, red and palatable. The flowering and the harvesting take place from May to July
Method Administration The plant is administered as laxative in the form of herbal tea (25g of dried herb in 1L of boiled water, 2-3 times a day) and as diuretic in the form of herbal tea (40g of dried herb in 0,5L of boiled water, 2-3 cups before eating mainly in the morning). Also it is administered as astringent in the form of gargle and poultice from the dried leaves.Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The whole plant has anti-rheumatic, diuretic, antidiarrheal, tonic and laxative properties. It is recommended in cases of intestinal sluggishness. Due to the plant's high content of salts, it is used for the treatment of gallstones and kidney stones, as well to liver patients and to people with weakened immune system. The leaves have astringent properties and are administered in the form of gargle against sore throats and in the form of poultice against skin ulcers, bruises, burns and wounds.
