Features Description Iris unguicularis is a perennial, herbaceous plant growing up to 40cm, with thin, lanceolate leaves and small, blue or violet flowers with white or yellow spots. The flowering and the harvesting take place from January to March.
Method Administration From the plant are isolated the kaempherol and the hispidulin, which are orally administered as antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. Also, it is used in cosmetics as an ingredient in creams and ointments.Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The root's extract has anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antitumor properties. Also, it is recommended against the postmenopausal symptoms, as well to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and strokes, due to its high content of flavonoids. Finally, it is administered in the form of poultice against headaches and in the form of freckle removal cream.
