Features Description |
Salvia fruticosa is a perennial, herbaceous plant growing from 30 to 60cm, with gray-green, opposite, lanceolate, pubescent leaves and white or pink flowers. The flowering and the harvesting take place from April to July. |
Method Administration |
The plant is administered as digestive and immune stimulant in the form of herbal tea (10-20g of dried herb in 1L of boiled water, three times a day). This herbal tea may also be used in the form of gargling as oral antiseptic.Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions. |
Pharmacological Info |
The herbal tea has antispasmodic, antidiarrheal, cholagogue, antiseptic, expectorant, antipyretic and vasodilator properties. It is recommended for the treatment of common cold, bronchitis, gastrointestinal disorders and perspirant. Also, it is administered as antiseptic in the form of gargles for the treatment of gingivitis, sore throat, laryngitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis. Finally, in folk medicine it is used due to its anticonvulsant, emmenagogue and estrogenic properties against dysmenorrhea and several disorders of menstruation. |
