Features Description Bromus inermis is a perennial, herbaceous plant growing from 60 to 120cm, with a lot of blade-formed, lanceolate, green leaves and oblong, light green flowers. The flowering happens in May and the fruiting lasts from August to September.
Method Administration Nowadays, the plant is not used for therapeutic reasons, despite the fact that scientific research is still going on in order to evaluate its potency as an antimicrobial agent. Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info A lot of studies have been conducted to prove the antimicrobial properties of the plant, which are attributed to the contained flavonoids. A number of studies have shown that plant's extract has antibacterial action against certain strains of Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and also against the Mycobacterium of tuberculosis. The leaves are used in industry for the production of fabrics.
