Features Description |
Fumana thymifolia is a small, perennial plant growing up to 40cm, with small, opposite, lanceolate, green leaves, yellow, hermaphrodite flowers in inflorescences and oval, smooth fruits. The flowering and the harvesting take place in spring |
Method Administration |
The plant is administered as an analgesic in the form of herbal tea (a spoon of dried herb in a cup of boiled water, 2-3 times a day). The essential oil is used in combination with other oils as an insecticide, which consists of 10-40 parts of pennyroyal oil, 5-20 parts of eucalyptus oil, 3-10 parts of cedar oil and 3-10 parts of citronella Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions. |
Pharmacological Info |
The herbal tea is used against common cold, flu and as an immunostimulant. Also, it has antipyretic, emmenagogue, diuretic and analgesic properties and it is recommended for the treatment of renal colic, headache and pain during menstruation. The herbal extract is administered against dysentery and dyspepsia, due to its anticonvulsant action. Several studies have been conducted, in order to prove the potential bactericidal and fungicidal activity of the herbal extract and the insecticidal properties of pulegone. |
