Features Description Carpinus betulus is a deciduous tree growing up to 25m, with serrated, pointed leaves. The male flowers are yellow, while the female are green. The flowering lasts from April to May and the fruiting takes place from September to October.
Method Administration The plant is administered in the form of herbal tea (a spoon of dried leaves in 250mL of boiled water, three times a day). It is applied externally against alopecia in the form of ointment, which is prepared by mixing 50g of powdered plant with 200mL of molten in water bath ointment base. A thin layer of this ointment is applied to the skin twice a day.Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The herbal tea is administered for the treatment of tracheobronchitis, spastic and chronic nasopharyngitis, tracheitis, cough, diarrhea, sore throat, rheumatic pain, flu, hemorrhoids and headache. In homeopathy it is recommended against bleeding, as it increases the number of platelets, by promoting their proliferation. Also, it is used from people who suffer from mental and physical fatigue and stress. Many studies are under way, in order to prove the antitumor properties of the plant, which are attributed to the contained pheophorbide.
