Features Description Blackstonia perfoliata is an annual, herbaceous plant growing from 10 to 60cm, with triangular leaves, spherical fruits and yellow, hermaphrodite flowers. The flowering and the harvesting take place from May to October.
Method Administration The plant is administered against obesity, diabetes and cardiac diseases, in the form of herbal tea (a quantity of dried herb in a cup of boiled water 2-3 times a day).Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The plant has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antidiabetic and cardioprotective properties. The contained flavonoid quercetin can reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, by acting against any forms of oxidative stress. Currently, studies are conducted in order to prove its potential use against cancer. The herbal tea is used for the treatment and prevention of obesity, to reduce diabetes symptoms, and finally to reduce the risk of respiratory diseases (asthma, bronchitis).
