Features Description Helichrysum stoechas is an annual or perennial plant growing up to 60cm, with linear or lanceolate, gray-green leaves and small, spherical, yellow flowers in inflorescences. The flowering and harvesting take place in early spring
Method Administration The plant is applied externally to the skin as healing, sedative and anaplastic in the form of essential oil (2-3 drops), usually in combination with other essential oils.Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. Pharmacological Info The stems and the flowers of the plant have expectorant, sudorific and laxative properties and they are used for the treatment of common cold. It is recommended against various skin diseases such as burns, acne, herpes, wounds, bruises and eczema. Also, the whole plant has antioxidant and carcinostatic properties due to its contents in phenolic compounds (3,5-O-dicaffeoylquinic acid, O-acetylhexoside). Finally, in folk medicine the essential oil is used as pasmolytic, analgesic, antimicrobial, antiseptic, cholagogue, diuretic, antidepressant and for many other actions.
