Features Description Fagus sylvatica is a large, deciduous tree growing up to 35m, with thick, cylindrical, smooth, gray trunk and oval, wavy, green leaves. The flowering lasts from April to May and the fruiting happens in October.
Method Administration It is administered as expectorant and antiseptic in the form of infusion (two drops of the herbal extract in a cup of boiling water, twice a day) and in the form of tablets (especially in homeopathy)Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The herbal infusion is used as tonic, antiseptic, antacid, antipyretic, antitussive, expectorant and bacteriostatic. It is recommended for the treatment of chronic bronchitis. Also, it is applied externally to the skin against various skin diseases. It is administered in the form of gargle, which offer immediate relief from severe toothache. Apart from its pharmacological properties, the plant is also used in lumber industry (trunk) as well as a fuel, in the form of coal. In pharmacy, the plant is also known as 'Creosote', due to the contained active ingredients (Creosotum)
