| Features Description | Alkanna tinctoria is a biennial or perennial plant growing up to 50cm, with hairy, elongate leaves, blue-purple or yellow, hermaphrodite flowers. The root is too large compared to plant's size and its bark produces a red dye. The flowering and the harvesting take place in June. |
