Features Description Solanum melongena is an annual plant growing up to 1m, with large, wavy, pubescent leaves and large, purple, with large yellow stamens flowers. The fruits are oval or spherical, pear-shaped, violet, black or white rails, which are single or dotted depending on the variety. The flowering and the harvesting take place from July to September, while the fruiting happens from August to October.
Method Administration The plant is administered as antihypertensive and anticholesterolemic in the form of herbal tea (two spoons of dried herb in a cup of boiled water, up to 3 times a day). It is applied externally to the skin in the form of poultice, as well in the form of powder, made from dried fruits, which is used either directly on the hemorrhoids or after mixing with an oily base (for 15 days).Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. The substances they contain may interact with the subscribed drugs that the patient already takes, thus eliminating their therapeutic efficacy or inducing toxicity. They may also burden further weakened vital functions of the body thus exposing the patient to increased morbidity and life threatened conditions.
Pharmacological Info The whole plant has anticholesterolemic, astringent, diuretic, tonic, emollient, healing and soothing properties. The fruits are recommended to reduce blood cholesterol levels and regulate blood pressure. It is applied externally to the skin in the form of poultice against burns, rashes, skin inflammations and hemorrhoids.
