Active Substance Verbenalin carvone limonene terpinenol verbenin essential oil which contains neral geranial (aldehydes) a-pinene (monoterpenoid) dipentene linalol nerol and geraniol. Also the plant contains a bitter agent and a tannin with unknown therapeutic properties.

Features Description Aloysia triphylla is a deciduous perennial plant growing from 1 to 1,5m, with lanceolate, glandular, serrated or intact leaves in vertebrae of 3 or 4 and white, small flowers in axillary or apical trusses. The flowering and the harvesting take place in August and the fruiting lasts from September to October.
Method Administration It is adminstered in the form of herbal tea (a spoon of dried herb in a cup of boiling water for 5-10min, 2 times a day) and infusion (a spoon of dried herb in a cup of boiling water for 5-10min, three times a day). It is applied externally to the skin as astringent and soothing in the form of poultice.Warning: The use of herb preparations is not recommended without seeking advice from your physician or pharmacist. It is applied externally to the skin in the form of poultice against neuralgia, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, sciatica, headache and earache. It is administered in the form of infusion against kidney stones and heartburn, as well to enhance body's metabolism and to lose weight. The herbal tea is also used against insomnia caused by central nervous system fatigue. The essential oil has insecticide and bactericide actions.
